Polish performances saved

Ladies and gentelmen,

we do not jinx today saying “we have succeeded”! Thanks to the commitment and support of several hundred people and institutions we can restore three Polish performances, i.e. “An Enemy of the People” directed by Jan Klata, “Hymn to Love” directed by Marta Górnicka and “One gesture” directed by Wojtek Ziemilski, to the main section of International Theatre Festival Dialog – Wrocław.

We are very touched and we would like to express our deepest gratitude for all the gestures of solidarity of the artists and the institutions, which made, that the efforts to restore programme integrity of the Festival was possible. We also wish to thank the audience most sincerely: primarily, thanks to your understanding and your support we could get it going. We would like to thank all the Donors, whose support our Dialog- Wrocław fundraising campaign conducted by the non-attached movement of creators and participants of the culture Kultura Niepodległa.

Until October 13th, 13:00 o’clock, 492 Donors with the amount of 164.035 PLN supported our campaign, which means that is missing only 36.565 PLN to restore Polish performances to the main section of Festival programme. We would like to thank our friends from the Goethe-Institut, the Maxim Gorki Theater, NTGent, les ballets C de la B and Toneelgroep Amsterdam, which supported us not only financially but also proved the meaning of solidarity of creators and participants of culture. Although we still do not have the full amount needed to save the festival on the fundraising account conducted by Kultura Niepodległa, we are optimistic looking at the dynamics of the donations which accompany the campaign and we are convinced that on October 17th (the closing date of the fundraising) we will be able to raise necessary 200.600 PLN.

The belief is giving us strength and today we can declare that the performances “Hymn to love” and “One gesture” will be showed according to the schedule. The performance “An Enemy of the People” will be presented at the Stary Theater in Cracow on October 16th, transporting our audience for the show free of charge by festival shuttle buses. The decision was driven by expense reduction which we had to done to make the Festival possible. There would be no success without the initiative of non-attached movement of creators and participants of the culture Kultura Niepodległa – without your activity and belief that together we will save the Polish programme of this year’s edition of Dialog Festival – Wrocław would look totally different.

We would like to thank you for your belief in the strength of community actions, committed to defense common values. The fundraising lasts until October 17th, therefore we would like to ask for your support once again and once again thank sincerely: Donors, Artists, Teams, Institutions and Organizations – without you there would be no 9th ITF Dialog-Wroclaw, which this year’s slogan “Onwards! But where to?” takes on a whole new, significant meaning today.

With respect and gratitude,

Tomasz Kireńczuk and 9th ITF Dialog-Wroclaw Team
